The service interval light is used to remind you of upcoming service that needs to be performed on the car, such as an oil change. This light is triggered by the odometer when it reaches a certain number. The light should be reset after performing service on the car. The procedure is easy and should take less than five minutes.

Shown here is the instrument cluster on the Volvo C30. Resetting the service interval warning (green arrow) is easy and should take no more than five minutes. Note the trip odometer reset button (yellow arrow). Begin by inserting the key and turn it to position one. Then hold the trip odometer button down. Note the information light (purple arrow). You'll want to keep an eye on this.

Now turn the key to position two (green arrow).

Now turn the key to position two (green arrow). Keep the button pressed down until the information light flashes. The car should also chime, indicating that the light has been reset. Once it does, turn the ignition off and remove the key. Now insert the key. Turn it back to position two and check that the light is reset.
