Some vintage Porsche 914 sales brochures...
914 & 914-6 (1969-1976)
1973 914S Folder "The Porsche 914, for the fun of it"
1973 914 Folder, 4 pages, "lime green" 914 overlooking lake on cover. This brochure is unusual because it mentions the "914S", which is the 2.0 liter version for 1973. The smaller version was 1.7 liters. Folder is all color, with beautiful color pictures inside, and specifications on the back cover. The brochure is also unusual because it has the exact same photograph of the cover as a larger version 12 pages. Size of folder is 8 ¼ in. x 10 7/8 in. The larger version brochure is 10 in. x 14 in. Nice addition to a 914 literature collection. [smaller size pic]
"The 29mpg Porsche"
This 1973 magazine ad was discovered in the glove box of a 'barn car.' by Nicholas Brenckle. The ad talks about the 'new' Porsche 914 2.0L engine which supposedly gets 29mpg with the stock 16.4 gallon tank. [smaller size pic]
"The Porsche 914/1974"
This is clearly a "1974" brochure as it includes the 914 (1.8 liter) and 914 2.0 (2 liter). Actually, it is a simple folder with 4 color pages, specifications, and a cut-away view of a 914 on the back cover. Inside are some really "cool" pictures of yellow and lime green 914s in various situations. Also inside is a view of the optional 3-gauge center console. A nice brochure. [smaller size pic]
"The Porsche 914/1975 and 1976"
Porsche printed essentially the same brochures in 1975 and 1976. Both have the same covers, the same color pictures inside, but differing specifications on the back cover. The only clue given is that one is printed "The Porsche 914/1975" on the cover (lower right), while the other says "The Porsche 914/1976". Both brochures are 8 3/8 in x 11 ¾ in. Looking carefully at the covers, I do see a slight difference in colors, probably the result of two different printings and two different times. An interesting note, while both brochures are printed in Germany, my 1975 brochure has the logo "VW/Porsche" blacked out on the back cover. [smaller size pic]
"Let it Entertain You"
Beautiful yellow 914 with a fancy estate home in the background. This 12 page color brochure was printed in the USA in 1973 and covers only the 1.7 liter version in the specifications. Inside are beautiful color pictures of 914s in all kinds of situations, including an interesting series showing the removal and storage of the targa top. Last several pages highlight special accessories, the five-speed transmission, and the pop-up headlights. Nice brochure. [smaller size pic]
"1975 Factory Picture"
Porsche Audi publicity picture, black and white, 8 in. x 10 in. showing a 1975 914. Notice the revised front bumper, and the "VW" like steel wheels. [smaller size pic]
"1975 Factory Picture"
A second Porsche Audi publicity picture, black and white, 8 in. x 10 in. showing a 1975 914. Notice the revised rear bumper, the "VW" like steel wheels, and the top which is stored. [smaller size pic]
Speed of Sound Magazine Ad
|Mike Fraculj (firstname.lastname@example.org) sends this ad our way:
I was flipping throught my dads old car and driver magazines and I came across an ad which I scanned and thought you might like. It's from a 1976 Car and Driver. This ad was telling people to look for this car in the Camel GT Challange Oct, 3 1976 at Leguna Seca Raceway and Nov 27 & 28th at Daytona Beach. (in small print at the bottom of the page)
