Great Solution for a Common Problem
Nice to have options for fixing this coupler instead of completely replacing the entire coupler assembly. Good solid fit to tighten up shifting precision.

Bushings
It worked out fine. Exactly what we were looking for.

for better shifting
Replace all the shifting parts and the shifting feels like a brand new car.

Awesome
These fixed most of the play in my shifter. They also fit in the billet version that pelican parts sells

Kit is just like OEM
This kit made a big difference in my transmission and looked just like the OEM stuff I was pulling off (except of course it wasn't all beat up).

Coupler Bushings
I needed to use a 1ton press (+ 4' breaker bar!) from Harbor Freight to push out the coupler pin. Once out, swapping bushings and replacing pin was easy. It took a little trial and error to get the shift linkage setup correctly again Once in the car. Now shifting is very crisp! I don't know why I waited so long to change! Spending a little time and using a low cost press can easily save you $100 over a new coupler!

Barely Made It Home
First thing I should start out by saying "Shame On Me" for allowing myself to get in this situation of having to drive my car nearly 25 miles and not being able to determine what gear I was shifting into. My car had started to shift sloppy over a period of weeks, and I was fearing the worse that my transmission was giving up on me. When all it was all the time were worn shift coupler bushings. Pelican came through for me, by providing the information in the form of my 101 Projects, and all of the necessary parts to repair my coupler. While in the tunnel, I replaced the front shift coupler boot, the rear coupler boot, and the set screw, a very inexpensive repair which took less than two hours. Shifting is greatly improved.

Great
Great item, read directions on here before pulling apart, will save you a lot of heartache in the end. Old set was original to car since '74, were very rounded out and degraded, much needed update.

Perfect
Just installed the four bushings. They made a huge difference. I used a vise and two sockets to remove the pin - worked like a charm.

Like a shiny new penny!
Incredibly inexpensive fix to what I originally perceived was going to be a costly repair. with the assistance of the online blog and this $8 part, my shifter is not sloppy anymore! Easy to install.

preventive replacement
might as well change them so that all feels stiffer

Trying to fit them
Very snug fit. But better than paying $150 for a new dealer coupling.

it worked

Not a simple install for me...
These were a tight fit for me, and I even had another aluminum housing to try them in to make sure I wasn't dealing with bad parts. I had to use my wire wheel to grind down the OD a little and add a chamfer to the edge to help lead them in. Used a vise and a socket attached to an extension to push the first one in, then shaved a bit more off #2 and pushed it in by hand using a 1/4" thick plate that was about 4"x6" so I had something to lean on to force it in. If you had to pay a shop to do this, you would be better off just buying a new coupler assembly. You may save money in the end and end up with a better quality fix based on today's labor rates. But if you DIY, it will work... just maybe not as fast as you thought!

Easy to replace
Dealer do not carry these. It was great to be able to fix the coupler by replacing just the bushings. Fit is perfect and car is now back on the road shifting like new.
