     A popular item we sell here at Pelican are Momo shift knobs. In this tech article we will discuss the installation of the knob. This is a relatively easy procedure, and should only take five or ten minutes to do. The first step is to remove your existing shift knob. Most shift knobs are of the screw-on variety, however some are held on by means of set screws or simply push on. In the case of our vehicle the previous owner decided to use bondo to attempt to cement the knob to the shifter shaft.  Figure 1 shows the existing knob. Pitiful, isnt it? The vehicle here is my battered, ugly, yet trusty Toyota pickup. I know, you're thinking, what is he doing putting a Momo shift knob on a old truck? I assure you this is for informational purposes only, and besides Momo knobs are designed to be for universal application.

     The second step is to slide the lower threaded portion of the shift knob, over the shifter shaft as seen in Figure 2, and slide it all the way down the shaft out of the way. We will come back to it later. Next, search through the parts included for the little rubber spacers. These are used to space the distance between the inside of the knob, and the shaft. There are an assortment of them, so be sure to choose the right size for the shifter shaft as shown in Figure 3. Now, place the knob over the rubber grommet, and using the small allen wrech included, evenly space and tighten the set screws at the base of the knob as shown in Figure 4. The last step is to simply take the lower threaded piece you put on first, pull it up to the knob, then hand thread it on. (Figure 5)

     Figure 6 shows the installed knob. And thats it, you're done!
