For some reason, the AOL software does not seem to be interpreting the Bulletin Board program instructions correctly. As an alternative, you can use a web browser other than the one built into American Online. The AOL software contains a small interface called a Winsock. This allows you to use Netscape 3.0 or 4.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0 or 4.0 to connect to the internet. Note, you must currently use the 16-bit version of these programs, as the Winsock interface is not yet 32-bit. In order to get this to work with AOL, download the latest copy of Netscape or Internet Explorer. Make sure that you get the 16-bit version (regardless of which operating system you are running). Start up and log into AOL. Once you are logged on, then start Netscape or Internet Explorer. The web browser should figure out that AOL is connecting it to the internet, and you should be able to browse the web without being limited to AOL's hoaky software. If you are still having problems, please email us. Obviously we can't debug your computer system, but we can give you pointers if your on the wrong track. Thanks for your support... |
