Fitting the tail to the deck lid

Since the new 3.8 RS tail will cover up most of the deck lid  when installed the factory basket handle 3 rd brake light strip on the 95 993 must be removed in order for the new tail to fit.

(1). Loosen the hex bolt on each side of the basket handle.

(2).  The brake light cover needs to be unscrewed to gain access to the wires that leads to the brake light LED strip.

(3).  Place the tail on the deck lid and mark the places where you need to drill the hole.  The holes to use are the factory holes where you removed the round clip on the plastic grill piece.  The tail does not come with any mounting screws, so you will need to search out some right size screws. (Home Depot)  Need to make sure the diameter of the screw is neither too big or small, lock washers are also recommended to make sure the nuts will not fall off once installed.

(4). Once the holes are marked it can now be drilled, match the size of the mounting bolt to the size of the hole to drill, you don't want to drill it out too much.

(5). Once the tail is mounted tighten the mounting bolts and check for clearance and fitting problems around the edges where the tail and the deck lid meets.  Now you are ready for the next step.
