In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with replacing the air filter on your Volvo V70 with a normally aspirated engine. The air filter is located in the air filter housing, mounted in the left side of the engine compartment.

Replace air filter once a year or more frequently if you drive in a dusty area. I suggest checking each time you change your engine oil, assuming you are changing your oil every 5,000 miles. It's easy to remove to inspect it and replacing it early will help you maintain your maximum fuel economy.

The air filter is located in the air filter housing.

The air filter is located in the air filter housing. It is mounted in the left side of the engine compartment. Unclip the seven air filter housing lid spring clips (green arrows).

Using a flathead screwdriver, lever each of the seven clips open (green arrow).

Once you release all the clips, lift the air filter housing lid up and detach it from the bottom of the housing.

I suggest cleaning any debris (green arrows) from the air filter housing once the filter is removed.

I suggest cleaning any debris (green arrows) from the air filter housing once the filter is removed. Leaves and dirt can gather inside the housing and possibly plug the air filter. Install the new filter; be sure it is properly seated. Then install housing lid and clip it in place

Kent Comments: Thnaks Nick. This must be a diagram for turbo. Mine is non-turbo- but it did lead me to beleive the hose is supposed to connect to the engine. Sure enough it does- on the side of the engine facing the front of the car- the connector was mingled with 2 others so I hadn't seen it first time.
Thanks!

Followup from the Pelican Staff: Ah, sorry about that. I grabbed the first diagram I found. Glad you figured it out. - Nick at Pelican Parts
Kent Comments: Black, small, approx 1/8 inch diam.
2 of them come off the back top , filtered air. One crosses under and connects to the heated air mixer valve. The other is longer. Could go to firewall or engine or ?
