Boost Pressure Sensor Replacement

Clean intercooler

The boost pressure sensor is used to give the car's DME a constant signal of the boost pressure inside the intake tract. This helps the DME make adjustments to the boost level, mixture and general overall performance. It also signals the system in case of over-boost, preventing damage to the engine.

Over time, sensors wear out, it's a fact of life. In our case, the sensor isn't too expensive and is changed rather easily once the front bumper cover is removed. See our article on Front Bumper Cover Removal for more information.

Shown here is the boost pressure sensor mounted inside the intercooler on the left side, going towards the throttle body.

Shown here is the boost pressure sensor mounted inside the intercooler on the left side, going towards the throttle body. Press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow) and pull it off the sensor.

Loosen and remove the T25 Torx screw (green arrow) holding the sensor in place.

Carefully lift the sensor up and out of the intercooler as shown here.

Carefully lift the sensor up and out of the intercooler as shown here. Clean the area before installing the new sensor. Re-install the T25 Torx screw and plug the electrical connector back in.
