Over the years, the Volvo emblem located on the front of the car can take a beating due to the elements. Replacing the crest can significantly improve the appearance of your car.

The front grille must be removed in order to replace the front crest. This is due to the mounting clips on the backside of the grille. Please see our article on Front Grille Removal for more information. Once the front grille is removed, turn it over and carefully pop the old emblem out. The new emblem simply snaps in place.

The rear scripts on the C30 are attached to the car with an adhesive backing. Use a tape measure or ruler to mark the location of the existing script before removing it from the rear hatch.

I like to use a heat gun on the rear script to soften up the adhesive. Be careful not to leave the heat gun pointed in one spot for too long as you can damage the paint. Keep it moving until you can take a bit of dental floss and cut through the adhesive backing. Once the script is removed, use some alcohol to clean off the remaining adhesive. Installing the new script is as simple as peeling the backing off the script and sticking it on the bodywork.

Shown here is the front emblem from our project car. As you can see, it has seen better days. The good news is that they are easily replaced once the front grille is removed.

Turn the front grille over to access the mounting clips on the rear (green arrows) use a small screwdriver or plastic pry bar to pop the two clips out and release the emblem.

The rear scripts are held on with adhesive.

The rear scripts are held on with adhesive. I like to heat the area around the script with a heat gun until I can cut through the adhesive with dental floss as shown here. Use alcohol to clean up any residual adhesive left on the car.
