Upgrade the waterfall outer panel to carbon fiber or other

Some jobs, such as replacing the shift cables, require removing the center console. In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with removing the center console.

Begin by prying out the plastic surround on the waterfall console along the top edge (green arrow).

Now use the plastic pry bar to carefully pry out the display panel for the stereo along the bottom edge (green arrows).

Press the tabs on the rear of the display (green arrows) and pull the wires out of the display.

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws (green arrows) holding the top of the waterfall console to the dashboard.

Locate the access panel right next to the emergency brake (green arrow).

Use a flathead screwdriver or plastic pry bar to carefully pry the access panel (green arrow) out.

Open the center console rear compartment and locate the access panel at the bottom.

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws (green arrows) underneath.

Now move to behind the waterfall console and pry off the upper trim panel (green arrow).

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws (green arrows) holding the front of the center console in place.

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws (green arrows) holding the front of the center console in place. You'll also want to pull all along the left and right side edges of the center console (yellow arrows) to release it from the dashboard.

Carefully pull out the tray (green arrow) behind the waterfall console.

Release the locking tab (green arrow) under the tray.

You'll now need to pull the entire center console towards the rear of the car enough to access the two T25 Torx screws holding the lower edge of the waterfall console to the car.

Now turn the waterfall console over and press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow).

Slide the center console backwards and up enough to access the electrical connection at the front underside of the panel.

Press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow) and pull it apart.

And here's the finished result with the center console removed.

And here's the finished result with the center console removed. Installation is the reverse of the removal, but first get the work done you need to accomplish with the center console removed.
