Door Panel Removal

Parts Required:

Door panel

Hot Tip:

Take care not to damage the edges of the door panel

Complementary Modification:

Replace window switch

Certain jobs, such as removing the outer mirrors or replacing speakers requires removing the door panel. In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with removing the door panel.

Begin by carefully prying along the bottom edge of the trim piece along the seam (green arrow) with a flathead screwdriver.

The trim piece is removed from the top of the door pull cover.

Carefully pry the door pull cover up along the bottom edge (green arrows) with a flathead screwdriver or a plastic trim removal tool.

Turn the door pull cover over and press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow).

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws (green arrows) securing the door panel to the car.

You'll now need to use a plastic pry bar to pop the door panel off.

You'll now need to use a plastic pry bar to pop the door panel off. Start at the back and work your way around the edge (green arrows).

Keep in mind that it will take a bit of force to pop the panel off.

Keep in mind that it will take a bit of force to pop the panel off. Slowly work your way around the perimeter of the door panel. Once free, move to the inside of the panel.

use the prybar to carefully pop the tweeter cover off the door frame.

You'll now need to disconnect the door handle cable.

You'll now need to disconnect the door handle cable. Pry the stop piece (green arrow) out of the clamp and move the ball end (yellow arrow) of the cable out of the door handle.

Press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow) and pull it out of the door lock switch.

Press the tab on the electrical connector (green arrow) for the tweeter and pull it out of the harness.

Note that sometimes the door panel clips can stick in the door as shown here (green arrow).

Note that sometimes the door panel clips can stick in the door as shown here (green arrow). If this happens to you, use a plastic pry bar to pop it out and re-install it on the door. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal.
