Stereo Removal

Removing or replacing the stereo on the Volvo C30 is relatively easy. However it is a bit involved. Read the directions fully before starting the job. You'll also need to remove the waterfall console halfway through the job. Please refer to our article on Waterfall Console Removal for more information.

Begin by prying out the plastic surround on the waterfall console along the top edge (green arrow).

Now use the plastic pry bar to carefully pry out the display panel for the stereo along the bottom edge (green arrows).

Press the tabs on the rear of the display (green arrows) and pull the stereo head unit out of the display.

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws holding the top of the waterfall console to the dashboard.

Loosen and remove the two T25 Torx screws holding the top of the waterfall console to the dashboard. At this point, you'll need to remove the entire console to remove the stereo. Refer to our article Waterfall Console Removal for more information.

Now pull the stereo unit out of the dashboard.

The last step is to remove the electrical connections (green arrows) from the back of the stereo unit.
