Rear Door Panel Removal

Various jobs on the Mk4 Jetta require you to remove the inner door panels, such as replacing a window regulator or motor. In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with removing the rear door panels. The procedure is the same for both left and right side doors.

Use a screwdriver to pry the cover (green arrow) off the inside door pull.

Loosen and remove the two Phillips head screws (green arrows) inside the access holes.

Loosen and remove the two T20 Torx screws (green arrows) holding the bottom edge of the door panel to the doorframe.

Use a plastic pry bar around the edges (green arrows) of the door panel to pop it loose from the door.

Squeeze together the tabs on the electrical connectors (green arrows) to both the speaker and the window switch.

From inside the door panel, pull the cable sheath (green arrow) back and slide the cable through the slit.
