Side Mirror Removal

Replace mirror glass

Removing the side mirror assembly is an easy task that should take no more than an hour. In this article, I'll go over the steps involved. Keep in mind that removing the mirror also requires removing the inner door panel. See our article on Front Door Panel Removal for more information.

Loosen and remove the two Phillips head screws (green arrows) holding the tweeter cover to the front of the A pillar.

Pull the foam cover (green arrow) off the A-pillar.

Loosen and remove the T45 Torx bolt (green arrow).

Loosen and remove the T45 Torx bolt (green arrow). Note the plastic hook attached to the mirror (yellow arrow). This hooks the mirror on to the doorframe.

Slide the electrical connector for the mirror (green arrow) out of the holder on the doorframe.

Squeeze the tabs (green arrows) on the electrical connector and pull it apart.

Lift the mirror off the door frame and guide the electrical connector out from the door.

When installing the mirror, take note of the plastic hook (green arrow) at the bottom.

When installing the mirror, take note of the plastic hook (green arrow) at the bottom. It is easy for it to pop out. Make sure it is seated correctly. Also note the upper plastic tab (yellow arrow). This tab pops into the doorframe when installing the mirror.
