Replace window regulator

A window that doesn't roll up or down is always frustrating. In this article, I'll go over the steps involved with removing the front power window motor. Replacing the motor is relatively easy, but it does require removing the front inner door panels. See our article on Front Door Panel Removal for more information.

Note: after replacing the motor, it is important to reset the stop points. This is done by pushing the button rolling up the window until it stops. Hold the button for ten seconds. Now roll the window all the way down and hold it again for ten seconds.

The front power window motor is accessed by removing the door panel.
Figure 1

The front power window motor is accessed by removing the door panel. Loosen and remove the three T30 Torx screws (green arrows) holding the motor to the doorframe. Once the screws are removed, carefully pull the motor off.

Note the electrical harness connector attached to the motor.
Figure 2

Note the electrical harness connector attached to the motor. There is a small slot in the end of the harness (green arrow). You'll need to use a small pick to pry open the locking tab. As you slide the locking tab back, the connector will detach itself from the motor.

Shown here is the connector with the locking tab fully released (green arrow).
Figure 3

Shown here is the connector with the locking tab fully released (green arrow). At this point, you can plug the connector into the motor. Make sure that the connector is oriented correctly and slide the locking tab closed. As you do this, the connector will draw itself into the motor. Now install the motor into place and re-install the door panel.
