Rear bumper cover

A few jobs on the Mk4 Jetta require removing the rear bumper cover to access the components behind. The bumper cover is held on the rear by a series of screws. Removal should take no more than an hour. Keep in mind that you will need to remove both taillight housings to access the screws underneath. Left and Right Sides of car: Loosen and remove the T30 Torx screw (green arrow) holding the top edge of the bumper cover to the rear wheel liner.

Loosen and remove the three T30 Torx screws (green arrows) securing the rear bumper cover to the underside of the bumper.

Loosen and remove the three T30 Torx screws (green arrows) securing the rear bumper cover to the underside of the bumper. At this point, you can just slide the bumper cover back off the car.

Here's the finished result with the bumper cover removed.

Here's the finished result with the bumper cover removed. Installing the bumper cover is the reverse order of removal.
