Removing Your Glove Box

Trim removal tool, T20 Torx

Snug everything up so you don't get rattles

You may need to remove the glove box to run an I-pod adaptor, upgrade your stereo system or get access to rattles behind it. Removal of the box is not difficult just take you time so you do not damage the plastic.

Begin by using a trim removal tool and gently prying the dash end cap off (red arrow).

Begin by using a trim removal tool and gently prying the dash end cap off (red arrow). You may want to place a piece of tape or cloth between your trim removal tool and the dash to protect it.

Remove the middle section of the A pillar trim piece (red arrow).

Remove the middle section of the A pillar trim piece (red arrow). The piece just snaps out at the top and then slides up and out of the bottom.

Remove the center cover.

Remove the center cover. There is a piece of trim up under the ash tray. Use your trim removal tool and gently pry it out (red arrow). It is just held in with plastic clips.

Unscrew the single T20 Torx screw that connects the glove box trim piece to the center section (red arrow).

Remove the three T20 Torx screws on the outside of the lower section of the glove box (red arrows).

Open the glove box and remove the three T20 Torx screws inside the upper part of the box (red arrows).

Slide the glove box to the right until it "pops". The glove box does not need to move very far (red arrow) a couple of millimeters will do it (yellow lines).

Tilt the glove box forward and remove the glove box light connection (red arrow).

Tilt the glove box forward and remove the glove box light connection (red arrow). If your glove box is equipped with an air bag shut off disconnect it.

Tilt the box a little further forward and remove the rubber hose from the back of the A/C cooling duct (red arrow).

Disconnect the foot well light by squeezing together the clips (yellow arrows) and separating the connection.

You can now safely remove the glove box from the vehicle (red arrow).
