The headlight and dimmer switches on the GTI Mk4 are not a typical high fail system on the car, but the nice thing is when they do fail you can change them both out in well under an hour.

Headlight Switch - Begin with the switch in the off position

Headlight Switch - Press the switch straight in towards the front of the car (red arrow) and turn the switch clockwise until half way between the off and on position (yellow arrow).

Headlight Switch - Pull the switch out from the dash (red arrow) by the switch knob.

Headlight Switch - Pull the switch far enough from the dash that you can unplug the harness from the back (red arrow).

Dimmer Switch -Use your trim removal tool and gentle pry the switch out from the bottom (red arrow).

Dimmer Switch -Pull the switch from the dash (red arrow)

Dimmer Switch -Squeeze the two clips on the connector (red arrows) together and separate the wiring harness from the switch.
