Compared to the Boxster, the Cayman has a unique front valance which incorporates fog lights. These lights are mounted down low and are more susceptible to damage from road debris. The bulbs need to be replaced periodically. This article will show you how to replace both the bulbs and the assembly (the assembly needs to be removed from the front to change the bulbs). Remember when working with bulbs never touch the surface of the bulbs with your bare skin or anything with grease or oil on it. This can cause a hot spot and lead to diminished life expectancy of the bulb. Wear clean gloves when handling the bulbs.

Today's modern cars are assembled using a surprising amount of plastic clips on both the exterior and interior of the car. Assemblies and parts can be removed from one another by prying the part off the plastic clip. If you are going to be working on your car please consider purchasing a set of trim removal tools. These hard plastic tools are great for working with trim pieces and pay for themselves many times over the first time you scratch a trim piece by trying to remove it with a screwdriver. Pelican sells them and if you don't already own a set of these please consider adding them to your order; they really are handy for working on your vehicle.

The fog lights are mounted down low which can make them susceptible to damage; to replace either the bulbs or the assemblies you will need to remove the front fog light trim piece.

The only thing you can service on the fog lights from the outside is the adjustment screw (red arrow) to assist in the aiming of the unit.

Begin by using a trim removal tool and prying out the plastic trim piece that surrounds the fog light.

To replace the other bulb twist the socket 45 degrees counter-clockwise and pull the socket from the assembly and replace the bulb (red arrow), Again, remember when working with bulbs never touch the surface of the bulbs with your bare skin or anything with grease or oil on it.
