There are a number of exterior light bulbs around your Mercedes-Benz W211 that require maintenance. The front side marker lights are located in the front bumper and work in conjunction with the turn signal light in the headlight. The front fog light is mounted in the bumper cover and is accessible from behind the wheel well liner. When replacing a fog light assembly, you will want to adjust the fog light beam angle so it does not shine in oncoming vehicle's view. See fog light adjusting at the end of this tech article

W211 exterior bulbs are monitored by the front SAM, which also monitors headlight functions (lighting and washing) and turn signals. In case of a fault, start by checking the bulbs in question. Then for power and ground to the bulbs. If you are missing a part of the electrical signal, trace the circuit using a wiring diagram. Or check the vehicle for faults via the driver information display or with a Mercedes-Benz scan tool.

Keep in mind that when your car was serviced before, parts may have been replaced with different size fasteners used in the replacement. The sizes of the nuts and bolts we give may be different from what you have, so be prepared with different size sockets and wrenches.

Protect your eyes, hands and body from fluids, dust and debris while working on your vehicle. If you're working with the electrical system, disconnect the battery before beginning. Always catch fluids in appropriate containers and properly dispose of any fluid waste. Recycle parts, packaging and fluids when possible. Never work on your vehicle if you feel the task is beyond your ability.

Our vehicle may vary slightly from yours as models do change and evolve, as they grow older. If something seems different, let us know and share your info to help other users. fgracemoody Comments: I need to order the amber fog light cover for the driver's side of my 1991 Mercedes 350SDL. The bulb works, only the shroud is broken. The car can't be inspected until this replaced.
