If your car is not passing a smog test, one of the things that could be wrong is the air injection change over valve. This article will show you how to replace the valve on a Mercedes-Benz W204.

To replace the camshaft sensors you will need to remove the front engine cover (red arrow) but pulling it straight up from the front.

To replace the camshaft sensors you will need to remove the front engine cover (red arrow) but pulling it straight up from the front. Remove the right air intake ducts by compressing it in off the air filter cover then slipping them off the ducts (yellow arrow). Please see our article on engine cover removal for additional assistance.

The change over valve is mounted to the clip in front of the cam sensors (red arrow).

Release the tab on the rear of the valve and slide it off the mount (red arrow).

Disconnect the two rubber lines noting which goes where for reinstallation (red arrows).

Squeeze in the small tab on the electrical connection (red arrow) and separate the connection.
