The W124 hood release cable is a single cable that runs from the interior handle to the release mechanism at the front cross member. It is a long cable with no place for adjustments so if your cable has stretched to the point it no longer opens the hood or has broken you will need to replace the entire cable.

The cable runs along the left fender up by the hood then below the cross member above the left headlight (yellow arrow) and connects with the mechanism (red arrow) under the cross member.

The cables grommet sits in a mount under the cross member (yellow arrow) and attaches to the mechanism (red arrow).
