If you have to remove the seats from your Mercedes W124 to replace them or service components beneath them, this tech article will show you how. I will break this article down into front and rear seats. This article will show the work performed on a wagon.

Front Seats - This procedure was done on the driver side seat but the passenger is similar.

Front Seats: This procedure was done on the driver side seat but the passenger is similar. Begin by sliding the seat all the way forward and raise the rear of the seat to its highest position. Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the seat rail to the floor (yellow arrow, one shown), and then remove the plastic cover and the 10mm bolt holding the seat belt to the transmission tunnel (red arrow).

Front Seats - Slide the seat back far enough to get access to the two front floor bolts.

Front Seats: Unclip and remove the carpet piece.

Front Seats: Unclip and remove the carpet piece. Tilt the seat back far enough to disconnect the electrical connections for your type of seat. Tilt the seat forward and remove it out the front door.

Rear Seat Bench: The estate or wagon has a split rear bench seat.

Rear Seat Bench: To remove the bench seat lift from the handle on the bottom of the seats (red arrow) and fold the seat forward.

Rear Seat Bench: On the backside of each seat is a red lever (yellow arrow).

Rear Seat Bench: On the backside of each seat is a red lever (yellow arrow). Lift the lever upwards. This will release the retaining clips (red arrows) and allow the seat to be slid up and off the mounts.

Rear Seat Bench: There is a release lever used to fold down the rear section of the seats on the floor under the bench section (red arrow).

Rear Seat Backs: To remove the seats use two 13mm sockets and remove the nut and bolt holding it to the center mount (red arrows).
