Over the years the front bumper on your car will see a lot of wear and tear , from road debris to small impacts. Most modern bumper are made from plastic and while flexible the impacts and debris can cause damage to the paint. If your front bumper needs to come off for some touch up wok or to give you better access to the front of the car this article will show you how. The job is easy to do and requires no special tools.

Begin by safely jacking up and supporting the front of your car (please see our article on how to jack up and support you car for help).

Next you will need to remove the engine under tray, we also have an article on removing the tray please see it for help.

The turn signal lamps have access holes under the hood.
Figure 1

The turn signal lamps have access holes under the hood. A screwdriver can be used to move the lamps' retaining lugs either slightly outward or downward (Depending on model year, turn signal lamps release by either pressing their retaining lugs down or slightly outboard. The lugs are plastic and will break if too much force is applied.)

Slide the turn signal out from the body and unplug the harness.

The lamp's retaining lug (arrow) is plastic. If the lamp is still the original one, its lugs are likely brittle. Depress them gently until the lamp can be pulled forward.

With the turn signal lamps removed you now have access to a bumper-retaining bolt on each side.

The fog lamps use bullet connectors. Prying open the plug's lower flap with a small flat- head screwdriver allows the wires to be disconnected. Next, the outside temperature sensor (arrow) is pulled out of its socket.
