The most iconic element of any Mercedes has to be the famous star emblem. While unusual by today's standards, most Mercedes vehicles still use a large ornament at the front of the hood. Over time, the elements can tarnish and corrode the original emblem. It's also not uncommon to go into the store one day and find the emblem broken off. Replacing the hood star is an easy job and should take no more than five minutes with a pair of pliers.

Begin by opening the hood and looking up underneath at the front.

Followup from the Pelican Staff: You may need to visit a body shop to have the mounting spot altered.

I’m not the best with part numbers.

Give our parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.

Followup from the Pelican Staff: We don't currently have that tech article. If we get a chance to perform the procedure, we will be sure to document it.

I would grab a repair manual. It will have the procedure, special tools and torque specs.
