The Das Schild protector is a neat product that is designed to protect your front and rear trunk lids from damage due to items floating around in your trunk. At first thought, it may seem like an unlikely scenario, but loose or oversized items stored in your trunk can often leave unsightly dings in your hood or trunk that can be very difficult to repair. The manufacturer of the liner also claims that it assists in preventing dings from outside of the car, from ill-placed baseballs or the occasional hail stone.

The liner is manufactured out of thermoformed, lightweight ABS plastic, and exudes a very high quality finish. The cost for a front and rear set is about $300 from PelicanParts.com. Installation is very simple: place the liner into the recesses of the front or rear trunk lid and attach it into the factory lid bracing with the included plastic snaps.
Shown here is the front hood with the Das Schild protector installed.

Installation is literally a snap. Simply take the liner and place it against the rear of the trunk lid. The liner is held in place using small plastic push clips that fit inside the slots that are already in place in the front and rear trunks (inset).
