Install aftermarket bumper cover

In this article, I will show you how to replace the front bumper cover. Removing the bumper cover is prerequisite for replacing components behind it. Removing the cover gains you access to the cooling fan, ac condenser, and headlight washer nozzles.

Lift and support the front of the vehicle. See our tech article on jacking your vehicle.

Remove the front lower engine cover. See our article on engine cover removal.

Working in the left and right wheel wells, remove the two wheel well liner mounting screws (green arrows) using an 8mm socket.

Utilizing a small flathead screwdriver, pry out the left and right center lower grille area covers.

Pry out the left and right corner covers using a plastic prying tool.

Press the tab (green arrow) and pull the plug off the Park Distance Control sensor.

Using a 10mm socket, remove the two mounting bolts (green arrows) exposed after removal of the trim panels.

Moving to the upper center of the bumper, remove the two mounting bolts (green arrows) using an 8mm socket.

Working in the lower center grille area, remove the four 10mm mounting bolts using a 10mm socket.

Pull the bumper cover forward and support it or have an assistant hold it for you.

Pull the bumper cover forward and support it or have an assistant hold it for you. Press the tab (green arrow) and pull off the plug to the left and right fog lamps.

Continue to support or have an assistant hold the bumper cover.

Continue to support or have an assistant hold the bumper cover. Remove the harnesses from the two remaining Park Distance Control sensors by pressing the tab (green arrow) and pulling the plug off the sensor. If your vehicle is equipped with a headlight washer system, locate the washer fluid hose connection, clamp the hose to avoid spilling washer fluid and remove the hose. The bumper cover is now free. Pull it away and store it somewhere that it won't be damaged. Installation is the reverse of removal.
