Removing Your Audi A4 Radio

Radio replacement or upgrades are some of the most popular projects that people preform on their vehicles. If you are planning on changing or upgrading your stereo in your Audi A4 the first thing you will need to do is safely remove the old one.

This article will guide you through the steps of removing the factory radio that came in the A4.

You will need the special radio removal tools to get the radio out without causing damage to the interior or possibly the electronics of the vehicle. You will need four VAG T10057 radio removal tools or 4 pry hooks that will work with the Symphony radio in the vehicle.

Begin by disconnecting the ground strap (red arrow) from the battery's negative terminal (red arrow).

You will need the special radio removal tools to get the radio out without causing damage to the interior or possibly the electronics of the vehicle.

Insert the four hooked tools with the hooks facing inward.

You will hear the clips snap into place and release the holding mechanism, then gently wiggle and pull the radio straight out (red arrow).

Remove the three wiring connections on the left side of the rear of the unit (red, yellow and green arrows).

Remove the antenna and amp connections (red and yellow arrows).

Remove the antenna and amp connections (red and yellow arrows). Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure to remove the tools before installing then slide the unit into the dash until it locks in place.
