One often overlooked wear item on your car is the wiper blades. This is one of those things that can easily ruin your day if the weather suddenly turns bad. Replacement of the blades is very easy and should take no longer than 15 minutes.

If you live in a wetter climate, then you'll understand the importance of wiper blades that work well. If running the wipers just streaks the windshield, it's time for new blades.

Lower quality blades tend to dry out or crack quicker than quality ones. The good quality blades are more expensive, but they last longer and do a nicer job of keeping the water off the windshield.

There are several different types of wiper blades (red arrow) and arms (yellow arrow) used on the Audi A4; make sure to verify the type of blade and arms you have on your vehicle before ordering.

There are several different types of wiper blades (red arrow) and arms (yellow arrow) used on the Audi A4; make sure to verify the type of blade and arms you have on your vehicle before ordering. The right side wiper blade is easy to change out when the wipers are off and in the park position. That said, you may find it easier to stop the blades in the up position to change out the left side. Just make sure not to drop the arm on the windshield or turn the wipers back on without the blades on the wiper arms.

Begin by pressing in the button on the wiper blade (red arrow).

Begin by pressing in the button on the wiper blade (red arrow). You want to press the button on the end towards the wiper arm (yellow arrow).

Next, you will need to squeeze the plastic mount on the wiper blade (red arrows) until the plastic locating circles on the blade are free from the arm (yellow arrow, one shown).

Next, you will need to squeeze the plastic mount on the wiper blade (red arrows) until the plastic locating circles on the blade are free from the arm (yellow arrow, one shown). This can be the most difficult part. You may need to wiggle a small flathead screwdriver in between the blade and arm to unseat the locating circles.

This photo illustrates the locating circles that will need to be seated in the wiper arm (red arrow, one shown).

Check the arm to make sure it is clean and free of any damage or debris.

Check the arm to make sure it is clean and free of any damage or debris. Installing the new blade is simply sliding the new blade onto the arm until the locating circles and locking button on the top of the blade clip into place. Again, just make sure not to drop the arm on the windshield or turn the wipers back on without the blade fastened to the arm.

Carl Comments: I have a 2-2 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. I am missing the plastic piece located at the end of each wiper arm - Ref. Figure 4 on this page. The ends of my wiper arms look exactly as seen in Figure #5 on this web page. My question is: Does this plastic part, with the mounting circles on it, as seen in Figure #4 with the mounting tang in the up=position - Is this a separate piece, or does it come on/with each purchased wiper blade? Please advise.
