Replace headlight bulbs

Sooner or later, you'll need to replace the fog light bulbs on your A6. In this article I'll show you how to do it. Keep in mind that removing the fog light assemblies on 2.7T models will also allow you access to the front of the turbo intercoolers. It's a good idea to clean any dirt or road debris that has accumulated in there.

Left and Right sides: Pull the plastic grille cover (green arrow) out of the front bumper.

Left and Right sides: Loosen and remove the two Phillips head screws (green arrows) securing the fog light assembly to the chassis.

Left and Right sides: Pull the fog light out to access the electrical connector on the rear.

Left and Right sides: Pull the fog light out to access the electrical connector on the rear. Press the tab (green arrow) on the electrical connector and pull it off the fog light.

Left and Right sides: Loosen and remove the two Phillips head screws (green arrows) on the rear of the fog light to access the bulb holder inside.

Left and Right sides: Once the fog light cover has been removed, you can access the bulb holder.

Left and Right sides: Once the fog light cover has been removed, you can access the bulb holder. Press the two fingers on the retaining wire (green arrows) and unlock the bulb from the holder.

Left and Right sides: Disconnect the electrical connector going to the bulb (green arrow) and install the new bulb in its place.

Left and Right sides: Disconnect the electrical connector going to the bulb (green arrow) and install the new bulb in its place. Take care not to touch the bulb glass with your bare fingers.
