Headlight Level Sensor

Hot Tip:

Performance Gain:

Self-leveling headlight work again

Complementary Modification:

Replace headlight bulbs

The self-leveling headlights in the C5 Audi A6 operate by means of a mechanical link from the front right lower control arm (looking towards rear of car) to an electronic sender by a long plastic arm. Over time, the sensor and/or the link arm can fail, rendering the system non-operational and usually triggering a dipped headlight error message on the dash.

Replacement is pretty easy and should only take an hour. I recommend jacking up the front right of the car and removing the wheel for better access. See our article on Jacking up your C5 Audi A6 for more information.
