Replace headlight switch

The dimmer switch controls the brightness of your dashboard lights. As with most Audi electrics, the dimmer switch is one of those items prone to failure over the years. Fortunately this is an easy repair that should take less than 30 minutes. In this article, I'll show you how to change it.

Remember your car may have been serviced before and parts replaced with different size fasteners used in the replacement. The sizes of the nuts and bolts we give may be different from what you have so be prepared with different size sockets and wrenches.

Pull the headlight/dimmer switch cover off the dashboard from the bottom (green arrow).

Pull the dimmer switch out of the dashboard as shown here.

Pull the dimmer switch out of the dashboard as shown here. You need to be able to access the electrical connection on the back side.

Press the tabs on the rear of the electrical connector (green arrows) and pull the connector off.
