Bonhams and Butterfields Monterey Auction - The Mike Amalfitano Porsche Collection - 2010
Comments and Suggestions:
Comments: I remember touring Amalfitano's shop in NH when he wasn't there. He was still racing the Formula cars and you could drive the tractor trailers inside on a special epoxy floor. Seems to me he also had an F50 at some point. He didn't have a 962 then.

Comments: Mike had a great collection. I remember the first time I walked through his shop in New Hampshire. It was great to look at the 917, 910, RSR, etc. The amazing part was the lowliest car in the shop at that time was a Ferrari F40! Mike is really missed by the racing community.

Followup from the Pelican Staff: Yup, it was sad to see the collection broken up. I have his orange Jagermeister 962 in my shop right now though! - Wayne at Pelican Parts
Comments: The Amalfitano auction at Bonhams was great fun to watch, with the biggest surprise being that the successful bidder on the 917 did not also buy its original LeMans coupe body shell...but there's a great deal of speculation that the body and chassis will soon be reunited, as they should be.

Followup from the Pelican Staff: Yes, that was interesting, but the bodywork was sold prior to the purchase of the car, so you needed to have some foresight as to whether you were going to win the car! :) - Wayne at Pelican Parts
