Pelican Parts: Original German 914-6 Blueprint

Pelican Parts has acquired and scanned an original German Porsche 914-6 Blueprint.  This print was graciously loaned to Pelican Parts by Tony Callas, owner of Callas Rennsport located in Torrance, CA.  The print was created in March of 1968, and is drawn at a scale of 1:10.  The print depicts the overall dimensions for the 914-6.  The car is shown equipped with the Mahle alloy wheels, which were optional.  These wheels, often called gas burners because of their likeness to a stove top, are the lightest Porsche alloy ever made.

The print was meticulously photocopied onto 30 sheets of 8.5" x 11" paper, and then scanned into the computer.  Having 64 megs of RAM really helped!  Original size is approximately 4.5 x 3 feet.

Here are some things that we have noticed about this print:

  • The front turn signal lenses appear to be European.
  • The driver's side seat is significantly tapered to fit around the emergency brake handle.   The production car seems quite a bit more subtle.
  • The wiper arm on the steering column is not in the original six.
  • The print is missing the hand throttle, although none of the six cylinder cars in 1968 had a hand throttle.
  • The headlamp view in the upper left hand corner, seem to indicate that the headlamps pop down the opposite way, like the 928.
