From the airbox to the intake manifold, air is routed to the engine at a defined volumetric rate that allows optimum combustion for specific levels of performance. Any alteration or failure within this system can therefore cause drivability problems like hesitation or rough idling. You can try cleaning and sealing these components as much as you want, but more often than not, installing brand new OEM parts is the best cure for these types of problems.
