If, for some reason, a valve spring breaks, the head gasket fails, or a timing belt has snapped, major damage would be inflicted onto the entire motor. When rebuilding the top end assembly of a motor, not only do you need brand new quality parts to get the job done right, but also a reputable machinist to do the work that you can't in your own garage.
