The SAI system consists of an electric air pump, a check valve and a series of tubing and ports that direct fresh air directly aft of the exhaust valves for about 2 minutes during engine cold start. Often times, the Check-Engine-Light (CEL) will illuminate because the SAI ports in the cylinder heads have become clogged with carbon soot and fresh air is no longer able to reach the exhaust system. The overly "rich" emission is sensed by the (4) oxygen sensors and a fault is recorded and your 993 will not pass emissions testing. To unclog these SAI ports runs into the thousands of dollars to have your local dealer perform the maintenance!
Yellow Cap Garage has created a new brand of repair DVD. A Red Cap Garage DVD is where YCG goes into other expert's garages and film them doing the work. This SAI DVD features Robin Sun & Chris Walrod of www.p-car.com fame! All sequences shown in this DVD are completed on an actual car & not on a bench or engine stand.
This DVD will step you through the following sequences: • Tools required to do SAI maintenance & where to buy specialty tools • Parts required to do SAI maintenance with actual Porsche part numbers • Safety tips & helpful hints on how to lift a 993 • How to remove the airbox & mass air sensor to access SAI valve • How to remove SAI valve with specialty tools • How to remove heat exchangers to gain access to SAI ports • How to apply de-carbonizer/pressurized air to unclog (6) SAI ports • How to install new SAI valve • How to reassemble airbox/mass airflow sensor/heat exchangers • Closing tips to assure the job is right & complete Running time: 1.1 hours
