Intake Bellows and Hoods  |
| Many fuel injection problems can be caused by vacuum leaks within the intake hoses. BMW intake hoods are especially susceptible to cracking. Often, replacing an intake boot can cure a variety of problems including rough idle, poor fuel economy and backfiring. Make sure that yours are not worn out or cracking, and replace them with new ones if they are. |

Air Flow Sensors |
| The air flow sensor (meter) measures the amount of air that is flowing into the engine manifold. This sensor is critical to obtaining the proper air/fuel mixture. If you car has recently backfired, you may have damaged the sensor flap that measures the air flow into the engine. |
