Tachometer Adapters

Have you modified your ignition system, or swapped your engine, and now your tachometer has become erratic, is reading wrong, or become non-operational? TACH-ADAPT is a small, easily installed device that resolves most of these issues. TACH-ADAPT includes features for pulse-filtering, rate-adaptation and re-generation of the proper output pulse needed by the tachometer. For example, a newer 911 engine is swapped into an older long-hood car. The old tachometer may not respond to the low-level tach signal coming from the new engine's ignition system. Or the situation where a 4-cylinder car gets a 6-cylinder engine transplant, causing the tach to read 1.5X faster. TACH-ADAPT's rate-adaptation feature resolves any combination of mismatched cylinder count. Its features are also applicable to situations where newer tachometers are substituted into older cars.

What makes this product great is that it reduces the hassle-factor. You can keep the existing tachometer intact. And, there is a significant cost savings because there is no need to search out and purchase a compatible tachometer or send the old one out to be rebuilt and/or permanently re-calibrated. (Note: TACH-ADAPT does not fix tachometers that are actually damaged or read incorrectly due to poor calibration or other internal damage. Those are the ones that should be sent out to a well-known repair shop.)

Perma-Tune CD Ignition Units

The Perma-Tune CD units are a great replacement for the stock 914-4 ignition system. When installing a Perma-Tune unit, make sure that you also install a new Bosch coil. The Perma-Tune units are also available with or without coil circuitry built-in. Having the circuitry built-in to the box increases performance, efficiency, and ignition system reliability.

Deep Sump Kits

Worried about not getting enough oil when cornering. Installing a deep sump kit on your engine could solve this problem. Pelican gives you two choices, aluminum-finned deep sump or the Weltmeister Oil Trap "the tuna can" will help to cool the oil as well. Warning: installation of the deep sump kit makes the bottom of the engine hang lower, making the bottom of the engine more prone to damage from speed bumps and curbs. If the sump is struck from below, it will damage the engine case beyond repair.

Oil Pressure Booster Piston Kit

Low oil pressure got you stressed? 914 engines are known for having low oil pressure. On an air cooled motor, having too low oil pressure could quickly lead to disaster. There are two pistons in the 914 engine case that regulate oil pressure. Replacing these pistons with these special ones results in higher oil pressure throughout the engine. Ideal for racing motors, or just heavy street use.

Chassis Stiffening Kit

Looking to autocross your car? Want some extra stiffness out of the frame? Feeling a little floppy? The 914 is a unibody chassis that has no roof for extra support. Because of this, the body's stiffness is derived entirely from the strength of the floor pan and the supporting sheet metal. Adding the chassis stiffening kit increases the stiffness of the body, resulting in better handling. The kit consists of 10 pieces that you weld into the rear suspension area, and require the removal of the rear trailing arms.

The Porsche 914 inner longitude kit is designed to fit all years and models. This kit will significantly stiffen the 914 chassis by tying the two longitude panels and the firewall together to "box" the frame. If you are upgrading your 914 to a six cylinder, competing in autocross, or if you simply want to stiffen the whole chassis up, this kit is for you.
