| $5.75 | | Ball Joint Tools | | The large castellated nut that secures the ball joint to the A-arm (901-341-425-00) should be removed either with a chisel or an impact hammer due to the incredible amount of force necessary to budge it free. This will normally render the old nut useless, and require it to be replaced along with the ball joint. This nut also requires a special tool for installation since it needs to be properly torqued to a whopping 184 ft-lbs. This specially made socket uses a 1/2" drive and is the only tool for the job. |

Replace your damaged one with a new unit, and have your 914 be A-OK! A-arms include new factory bushings. |

Any misalignment in the vertical plane results in pinching and binding at the bushing that resists free movement of the control arm. Factory mounting points (stamped sheet metal) are imprecise at best and can be substantially off due to frontal impacts, pot holes, or suspension pan replacement. If the mounts are not collinear, the control arm will bind, especially with any performance bushing compound or bearing.
Low-Friction Control Arm Mounts from Elephant Racing self-align in both the horizontal and vertical planes. The result is collinear front and rear mounts delivering smooth non-binding action. You get superior performance and a smoother ride. Factory mounts can bind - Low-friction mounts pivot freely!
Kit includes everything required to upgrade one car. Factory rear A-arm mounts are replaced with our self-aligning mounts. Factory front A-arm mounts are retained and augmented with self-aligning washers. With this kit installed, both front and rear control arm mounts self-align in both vertical and horizontal planes. They become collinear, allowing free non-binding motion of the control arm. Fits both aluminum and steel suspension cross-members.
Recommended for use in cars using any hard-compound bushing or bearing and is a must for any car that has had frontal damage or a pan replacement. Fits all 911/912/930/914 from 1968 to 1989. These are an excellent compliment to Elephant Racing's Polybronze bearings. |

Sold in pairs. Upgrade with Sway-A-Away solid, alloy heat-treated steel bars or use lightweight hollow high-performance torsion bars. Always replace sway bars in pairs to assure that you have equal balance on both sides of the car. Use stiffer (thicker) bars for better racing performance. Use a medium stiffness bar to improve the handling characteristics of your car during autocrossing. |
