Throttle Switches (Bosch) |
| The throttle switch works as an electronic equivalent of an accelerator pump in a carburetor. it allows the fuel injection to compensate during fuel injection. These switches are basically a set of sliding contacts that work like a rheostat. It's very common to see flat spots worn onto the electrical contacts due to years of back and forth operation. If you notice your car stumbling on acceleration somewhere around 3000RPM, it's a good bet that the throttle switch is worn, and needs to be replaced. |

| Replacing your cylinder head temperature sensor is a common practice on older 914s. A defective sensor may cause the car to stall or to have flat spots at a specific RPM. Also called temp sensor II. |

Fuel Pressure Regulators (Bosch) |
| Maintaining proper fuel pressure is vital to your engine's proper operation. Incorrect fuel pressure will cause your car to run hot, stall, surge, and a variety of other problems. The good news is that the fuel pressure regulator is easily replaced. Simply open the engine lid and look at on the drivers side near the rear of the engine. the fuel pressure regulator is the hand grenade looking object with two fuel lines going into it. Disconnect the battery to prevent any fires, then loosen the hose clamps on the fuel lines going to the regulator. Remove the fuel lines, then loosen and remove the nut on the regulator securing it to it's bracket. Installation of the new regulator is the reverse of removal. NOTE: be sure to use caution and common sense when working around fuel. |

Fuel Tank Level Sending Units |
| Not sure what your fuel level is? Worried about having to call AAA on the side of the road? Replace your sender and toss out that spare can of gas in the front trunk. Make sure to get a new gasket too. |
