Valve Adjustment Screws    Camera Pic

You should only use original valve adjustment screws when replacing them. Some of the aftermarket screws are too hard, and tend to damage the stems of the valves. It is much easier to replace the valve adjusting screws than it is to replace the actual valves!

Push Rod Tubes

The push rod tubes are used to both enclose the push rods and also to provide oil flow to and from the cylinder heads. The tubes often leak oil from where they fit into the engine case due to old seals. unfortunately, when the oil leaks out, it spills directly onto the heat exchangers, causing that burnt oil smell in your car when you turn the heater on. The good news is that the seals can be replaced with the engine in the car. (Tech article coming soon....) Use new pushrod tubes and seals on your new motor for the prevention of future oil leaks.

Push Rods    Camera Pic

When push rod tubes get damaged, they often cause the push rod to rub against the inside of the tube, causing a groove, and a potential failure of the entire rod and/or the tube. Rods are also supposed to have a clear oil path down the center. It's a good idea to have a machine shop check the tubes for trueness, and have them clean out any used ones that you are thinking of reusing, Always replace any push rods that are bent, or damaged in any way. Leave groovy push rod tubes in the '70s and replace yours with a new set today.

Push Rod Tube Seals    Camera Pic

New push rod tube seals will eliminate those pesky oil leaks from your push rod tubes and give you 30% more horsepower! Well, maybe not, but maybe 30% less oil leakage. Replacement is easy with the engine in the car, and doesn't require removing the heads. These are the good seals!
