| Porsche 914 Brake Miscellaneous - Page 1 |
| Without a doubt, your brakes are the most important part of your car. It doesn't matter how fast you go, you will eventually need to stop, and sometimes stop quickly. We don't recommend skimping on your brake system - do the job right and you'll protect more than your car. |

Emergency Brake |
| Emergency Brake Adjustment Screws |
| One of the more interesting aspects of the 914 rear brakes is the incorporation of a unique (some say frustrating) adjustment for the emergency brake. You have to adjust the clearance of the brake pad to the rotor by means of a small adjustment screw. Often times, these screws can strip and be rendered useless. The Mainely emergency brake adjustment screws are manufactured to be direct replacements for the original factory adjustment screws. These adjustment screws require no modification to be installed in your original calipers. Each screw comes with the o-ring, jam nut and retaining clip. Two sizes are available: The small diameter bolt fits 914 model years 1970-72. The large diameter bolt fits 914 and 914/6 model years 1973-76, these calipers should have dual bleeder screws. | Handbrake Levers |
| Is your old handbrake lever broken or rusted out from age? Replace it with a new late-style one, and avoid having your parking brake released at inopportune times. It is highly recommended that early 914 owners with the troublesome two piece style handbrake update to the later one piece design. It is a direct bolt-in replacement with no modifications needed. Also prone to failure is the small ratchet catch under the handbrake. The catch can strip its gears, rendering the handbrake useless. |
