Front Strut Tower Braces |
| Weltmeister Camber Brace (Cambermeister) |
The 911 is one of the most enduring designs in automotive history. Yet one design weakness has been discovered as tires have improved: the front suspension can lose its proper camber under hard cornering, reducing car control and cornering ability. Cambermeister solves this problem and provides advanced handling for your Porsche. For years the myth prevailed that 911 front shock towers collapse inward under hard cornering. Many products flood the market based on this mistaken theory. But the design people at Weltmeister did their own independent testing. Using a precision tell-tale dial indicator that measures to within one-thousandth of an inch, they built a testing device to record shock tower movement under load. Tests at Laguna Seca, Sears Point and dozens of autocrosses revealed a surprise. Shock towers do not collapse inward! Rather, the shock towers spread apart under hard cornering. As you can see from the diagram, the cornering force from the tire's contact with the road, up through the strut, acts like a lever pulling the top of the struts apart. This forces the front suspension alignment to change to positive camber, reduces the tire contact patch, and causes a dramatic reduction in cornering ability. Weltmeister's measurements showed that only 15% of the camber change could be attributed to shock tower movement. The other 85% took place in the rubber mounts for the top of the shock absorber! To Weltmeister, the solution was apparent. First, the two shock towers must be firmly linked together. Second, the tops of the two shocks must also be tied into this structure. The Cambermeister design does it all--prevents shock tower separation or compression, as well as preventing 90% of the movement in the shock mounts. Tests prove that Cambermeister limits shock tower movement to only .002 - .003 of an inch! These tests were done under the observation of the editors of European Car magazine, who concluded that Cambermeister is a top notch product that made the 911 not only more solid through the turns, but gave improvement under hard braking. Cambermeister bolts in and removes easily; there are no holes to drill, and its fully adjustable with top grade, teflon-lined (quiet) rod ends. Fits 1969-89 911, 912, 911 Turbo; not for 1989 Carrera 4. Also very useful is our Pelican Technical Article on the installation of the Cambermeister. Manufacturer: Weltmeister |

| JM Products Strut Tower Brace |
| This Strut Tower Brace looks as good as it works. Made from aircraft grade polished aluminum. The airfoil shape is stiffer than other aluminum bars and its easy to install and light weight. The laser-cut, powder-coated and hardened steel brackets bolt in with very little effort, plus the bar is fully adjustable. Tie those strut towers together for more precise steering and handling. Older Targas and Cabs are more prone to flexing and twisting, tighten up your car now for safer, quieter and more accurate steering and braking. |

| Elephant Racing Lightweight Strut Brace |
Elephant Racing's 911/930 triangulated aluminum strut brace weighs a scant 3.3 lbs! Triangulation provides rigidity to hold camber settings under heavy corner loads. Compare to other manufacturer's triangulated braces weighing a portly 15 lbs! Lightweight and rigid - the perfect combination for your race/performance Porsche! Made from sturdy aluminum tubing our braces are tapered and terminated with quality rod-end fittings for precise alignment, adjustability and rigidity. Adjustable pre-load allows you to dial in a bit of extra camber if desired. All required mounting hardware is included. Fit and finish are excellent making these braces as attractive as they are functional. They bolt on easily and can use existing holes on most cars. The track version is triangulated for maximum rigidity. The basic is the non-triangulated street version, that offers added rigidity for the daily driver. The basic weighs in at 2 pounds. |
