Sway Bars  |
One of the most important suspension components, sway bars reduce the car's roll in corners. Install a front sway bar if one was not installed in your car to begin with, or upgrade to a thicker bar for increased stiffness. Same thing in the rear - if you beef up the thickness and torsional stiffness of your rear sway bar, you'll get better cornering performance on both the street and track.
There are two different types of sway bars found on the 911 suspension. The early 911s used a through-body mount that passed right behind the gas tank. On later cars, the sway bar was integrated beneath the body of the car and ran along the bottom near the steering rack cross beam. These later-style sway bars are actually less desirable than the front ones, primarily because they are not adjustable, and also perform slightly different. The aftermarket Weltmeister sway bars require a behind-the-gas tank installation, as does the early-style sway bar. | Weltmeister Sway Bars |
Nothing plays a more important role in improving Porsche handling than effective sway bars. Properly balanced and tuned sway bars improve driver control, safety, and driving enjoyment while reducing body roll, weight transfer, and wind wander. Weltmeister sway bars are an excellent choice for an upgrade or installation into your 911. Using Weltmeister Stage Two anti-sway bars, they've managed to break the magical 1g barrier in production 911 and 944 Porsches - using street tires!
All Weltmeister sway bars are fully adjustable, allowing you to custom balance your car's handling. Sway bar rate adjustment is quick and simple with an infinitely-adjustable slider clamp. And the adjustable drop links provide further chassis tuning by removing side-to-side preload. We've found no other kit to offer anything close to this level of precision tuning. For uniform quality, the sway bar itself is manufactured from head-treated aircraft alloy steel and formed on a computerized CNC bender.
Weltmeister's Poly-Graphite bushings give better load-resistance than rubber bushings, yet allow the sway bar to turn effortlessly, without the squeaks or rapid wear of rubber, teflon, or delrin bushings.
Weltmeister kits are custom designed for ease of installation, and include the sway bar, bushings, adjustment slider clamps, drop links, hardware, and a complete instruction guide. Adapter kits are required for some cars.
