| Shock Absorbers & Struts  | One of the most important elements of your complete suspension package are shock absorbers. Pelican Parts offers several varieties of shock absorbers. Note that Boge shocks were original equipment on all 911s except the 911S and some cars were special ordered with Koni struts. Please note that the front shock absorbers (inserts) are not interchangeable with each other, and need to be ordered specifically for your car's front strut assembly. The strut assembly is the part of your front suspension that the shock absorber slides into. In general, Bilstein struts are painted green, Koni struts are red, and Boge/Sachs struts are either yellow or black. The shock insert type should be stamped on the side of the strut housing as well. Contact us for more information if you are not sure which strut your car has.
Rear shock absorbers can be mixed and matched, and are not particular to the car. In other words, you can choose any brand or manufacturer that you would like to place on the rear of the car. With both front and rear shocks, you should always replace them in pairs (they are sold in pairs) in order to maintain balance between the left and the right suspension. The rear shock absorbers come complete with all of the mounting hardware and rubber stops that are contained at the top of the shock. The only items not included are the lower mounting hardware, which is available separately.
How do you know when you need new shocks? Simple: if you stand on each corner of the car (on the bumper), and jump off, then the car should spring back up to a level and remain there. If the car begins to oscillate or bounce around, then chances are that your shocks are shot, and need replacement. The procedure is simple, and can be accomplished in a few hours.

| | Bilstein Shocks & Struts | The Bilsteins are a great performance shock absorber, and will give you a tighter feel over the stock units. An all-around durable shock, the Bilstein shock absorbers should last the life of your 911. The sport Bilsteins give a bit of a stiffer ride, and are best matched with stiffer torsion bars and a lowered suspension.
There is also the option of ordering an entirely brand new Bilstein strut. The new struts come complete with brand new shock absorbers and mounting hardware. This is an outstanding value if you need to replace one or both of the struts on your 911.
