| 911 (1974-83) and 911 Turbo (1976-89) CIS Fuel Injection & Systems |
For more than ten years, Porsche used the Bosch K-Jetronic Continuous Injection System (CIS) on all production 911s. The system in general is very reliable, and was only bested in 1984 by the introduction of the Motronic engine management system that controls both ignition and fuel injection together. The CIS meters the amount of fuel provided to the cylinders as a function of the air drawn into the engine. The CIS air flow sensor plate measures the amount of air that is being drawn into the system. This sensor plate is attached to a fuel distributor that evenly meters the amount of pressurized fuel sent to each injector. The system doesn't differentiate among the six injectors - it sends the same amount of fuel to them at all times. Unlike pulsed-injection systems like the Motronic system or even the earlier Mechanical Fuel Injection system, the CIS injectors distribute fuel to the cylinders at all times. The opening and closing of the intake valves controls the intake of fuel into and out of the combustion chamber. Through 1979, CIS was a semi-open-looped system, which means that it didn't monitor the output gases from the engine to see if the air/fuel mixture was set at the appropriate levels. In 1980, emissions requirements forced the introduction of an oxygen sensor into the system, which helped the engine to better run at the appropriate mixture level through the regulation of fuel pressure inside the fuel distributor. |

Air Filters |
| Clogged air filters can reduce air flow into the injection system causing reduced power, and inefficiency in the fuel injection system. Be sure to replace your air filter whenever you do a tune-up. |

| K&N Air Filters |
| K&N air filters are designed to achieve high, virtually unrestricted air flow while maintaining filtration levels critical to ensure long engine life. The secret to their success lies in the unique characteristics of their filter medium that was originally developed by K&N all those years ago in the dust, sweat and tears of desert motocross racing. The high flow cotton gauze air filter is washable, reusable and built to last for the life of an engine. The filters consist of four to six sheets of cotton gauze layered between two sheets of aluminum wire mesh. This media is then pleated and oiled to enhance its filtering capabilities and overall performance. The result is an air filter that allows dramatically more air into an engine, is washable and reusable, and will protect your engine for the life of your vehicle. |

Performance Intakes |
| AireTEK High-Performance Intakes |
AireTEK High Flow Induction Systems: Engineered to flow MORE air for MORE power. It's that simple. Just like an asthmatic relying on an inhaler to breathe easier, our AireTEK Induction System will "decongest" your engine to allow more air intake with less restriction. Our CAD designed streamline air plenum incorporates a patented high flow air filter, which assures optimum performance and durability. All AireTEK induction components undergo countless hours of research and development with extensive dynamometer and "real world" testing prior to manufacturing and distribution. Average gains are 6-12 HP depending on vehicle and level of other performance upgrades.
