How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines

Most hardware comes completely cadmium plated for a look and feel that is an excellent finishing touch to your engine rebuild. Don't ruin your rebuild by using old, or worn out hardware. Our hardware kits contain only the best - no Asian-made fasteners here. The kits are a combination of Genuine Porsche hardware fasteners and fasteners also made by OEM German Supplier Wurth.
Head Stud Hardware Kits
Head studs on 911 engines have some notorious history associated with them. The original exhaust head studs used on the 1978-89 911s and the intake/exhaust studs on the 1976-89 911 Turbos were manufactured out of a material called Dilavar. This special steel alloy was designed to have a coefficient of expansion that matched the thermal expansion of the cylinders more closely. Unfortunately, Dilavar was found to have some faults, and as a result, it's not uncommon to find a broken head stud in your aluminum-block 911 engine. The solution is one of our head-stud kits. We offer the standard steel replacement head studs (recommended for street applications) or the stronger RaceWare or ARP steel head studs (for race applications).

  Proper head stud torque is very important to achieving a good quality rebuild. If your head studs nuts or washers are rusty or galled, then you will not be able to tighten your studs properly. You must also use the proper washer under the head studs (many engines have had cheaper, incorrect ones installed during sloppy top-end rebuilds). Our new hardware kits contain all the brand new Porsche OEM Factory nuts and washers that you need for your rebuild.

Casper Labs Cylinder Head Studs, Nuts and Washers
Casper Labs offers a complete cylinder head stud fix in one reasonably priced and complete kit. They have 30 years of experience designing and manufacturing specialty parts for air cooled piston and jet engines. Their metallurgical experience with Pratt & Whitney lead to the application and test of a specialty precipitation hardening alloy steel (Carpenter Custom 630) for the Porsche stud application.

With precision rolled threads on 200+ KSI yield strength material, they are inherently notch/corrosion resistant (no coatings needed that can chip or flake). Casper Labs includes a lifetime guarantee against breakage.

The 74 piece kit also includes specially plated heavy duty all metal locknuts, hardened washers, an installation tool, threadlocker, and a detailed instruction manual (which includes case preparation). Supertec Performance Cylinder Head Stud Kit
These cylinder head studs are an innovative design that is unique compared to anything else on the market today. The kit includes 24 studs, washers and head nuts. The polished studs have rolled threads; the case end is slightly longer, permitting it to thread deeper into the case, and the head end is fine threaded for smoother and more consistent torque. The nuts are 12-point with a serrated flange and the washers are hardened ground.
