Ignition Rotors |
Worried about your lead-footed friend over-revving your engine when you let him test drive your 911? For the early cars (up to 1977) there were two types of rotors available, one with a rev limiter, and one without. The rev limiter protects your engine from overzealous drivers. A small floating weight on the rotor grounds out the coil at the RPM limit preventing valve train and other engine damage. In 1978 and later, rev-limiting is controlled by the CD-box.

Ignitorฎ Electronic Ignition
This aftermarket unit is small enough to fit neatly inside the distributor. Replacing the points, this unit does away with dwell angle adjustment, and pitting, and unreliable ignition. Works with all 911s from this era that used points (1974-77) and the standard Bosch coil. Click here to view the Pertronix Ignition Site

Ignitor II Electronic Ignition
The Ignitor II has many of the same features as the Ignitor, but it's smarter. The Ignitor II units sense the coil current level and use a powerful micro controller to adjust the dwell. Variable dwell helps to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range. Ignitor II systems develop up to 4x more energy between 3000-5000 RPM compared to standard ignition systems. High RPM performance is improved when using the Flame-Thrower II super low resistance (0.6 ohms) 45,000 volt coil.
