At Pelican Parts, we offer a wide variety of brake pads, whether it's for your stock Porsche or for more of a track purpose, we can match the right brake pad to the right application for you. The "M" Brake Calipers are a small, 2 piece cast iron caliper and measure approximately 75mm between the mounting holes. The "A" Calipers++ are a large 2 piece cast iron caliper and measure approximately 95mm between the mounting holes. And finally, the "S" Calipers are a large 1 piece aluminum alloy caliper and measure approximately 95mm between the mounting holes. Can't figure out what's best? ++From 1984-89, the front "A" calipers on the 911 Carrera became 4mm wider than the original version and a provision was made for brake pad wear sensors. Thus, the design of the brake pads were modified to accommodate the these sensors. The original sensors fit into a notch in the original brake pads (# 911-351-950-02-OEM) and are part # 944-612-211-00-M163. However, an updated version of these sensors required them to be glued to the brake pads. These later style wear sensors are part # 993-612-965-01-M163 and fit to a different brake pad # 911-351-950-06-OEM. Both style pads and sensors are still available, so before you order either part, please verify which type of wear sensor you are currently using to ensure proper fitment. Note that aftermarket brand brake pads will fit to the earlier notch-type sensors only. |

OEM pads are made by Ate, Jurid, Textar, Mintex, or Pagid. These manufacturers were all original equipment manufacturers of brake pads for Porsche at one time. These quality OEM pads are the most economical and most common choice for Porsche owners replacing their brake pads.
Mintex brake pads have a silver-metallic formulation that gives the brakes a distinctly different feel while eliminating brake squeal and dust. These offer slightly different braking characteristics and are priced just right.
